Nordmann Kompakt: Oral Care
Oral care myths such as “gum-chewing makes a good substitute for brushing and flossing” or “it’s best to scrub hard when you brush your teeth” are now ideas of the past.
Today we know that cavities, gingivitis and periodontitis are typically caused by poor oral hygiene. Bacterial plaque, also known as dental plaque, is always forming – not just on the teeth, but everywhere in the mouth. Dentists therefore recommend using dental floss, interdental brushes and mouthwashes in addition to a conventional toothbrush in order to ensure proper care of the teeth and gums.
Toothpaste formulations feature many different types of ingredients, the six most important being:
- cleaning agents
In this Nordmann Kompakt presentation about oral care, we’ll show examples of each of these and highlight active ingredients with antimicrobial effects or that help reduce plaque and tartar build-up. We’ll also address the topic of mouthwashes and give you an idea of the raw materials you can use to make them.
